Spider Veins Before & After Treatment at Schick VeinCare
What are Spiderveins?
Spiderveins, or Telangiectasia, are small blood vessels that can be seen under the skin as a spidery or branching network or as single fine lines, usually appearing red, purple, or blue. These fine veins, also known as broken capillaries, can have hereditary or hormonal causes. Sun exposure may bring about facial spider veins.
Common Symptoms of Spiderveins
Spiderveins symptoms can include burning, swelling, cramping, throbbing, and leg fatigue. Often there are no painful symptoms, but patients choose to have their spider veins treated for cosmetic reasons.
Injection Treatment for Telangiectasia
To clear up spiderveins, we inject the veins directly with a sclerosing solution, using extremely small needles. The injected solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to close together and begin to heal, forming scar tissue. This scar tissue is gradually reabsorbed by the body and the veins fade. The same veins will need to be injected more than once, over 2 to 3 treatment sessions, spaced several weeks apart.
Differences Between Spiderveins & Varicose Veins
Spiderveins are the fine veins visible under the skin, whereas varicose veins are larger and protruding. Both occur in the surface vein system and can be caused by increased pressure such as from prolonged standing, inherited genetic weakness of vein walls or hormonal variation, and pregnancy. Spiderveins can appear on the face after sun exposure. At Schick VeinCare, we treat both spiderveins & varicose veins using sclerotherapy - liquid injections.

Cost of treatment at Schick Vein Care can vary, depending on the patient's condition and on how much sclerosing solution is required. You will be given an estimate during your initial Free Consultation. Vein treatment consists of at least 2 to 3 separate Vein Treatment sessions.
